Yep - I've been using the Costco brand for about 6 years now.... Is my hearing perfect? - NO.... Do they help - absolutely.... My set cost me, probably, about $2K all said and done - possibly less.... and now my kids can't talk about me in my presence without me knowing it... LOL....
Never tried the spendy "custom shop" types of aids.... Never willing to spend $5K - $8K to try them....
Never embarrassed to ask someone to speak slowly and clearly as I am hearing impaired. Most issues come with higher pitched sounds (many women) who also speak fast.... They understand my issues - and we've gotten along great.

I got this one week ago. I don't have anything to compare them to, but they do help.

I an on my second set from Costco and I could not be happier. I went to another hearing aid company and they wanted $8,000 for a pair. Costco sold be better hearing aids for $1,500 out the door. Their hearing test was very extensive and their customer support has been great. Every time I go to a Costco, I just drop my hearing aids off and the clean them while I am shopping. I have several friends who have also used Costco and they are very pleased as well. I am amazed at how well I can hear now and how much I was missing before I finally got the hearing aids. Do it, you will not be sorry.

We joined Costco just for the saving on their Signature hearing aids. My wife was very satisfied with them and the service.
Some years later she was talked into having a hearing test by an independent clinic. As expected they found her hearing deficiencies had probably changed, and they could supply new hearing aids that (they claimed) would be substantially better the her old Costco ones (but cost $$$$) It was quite a sales pitch. "Do you sometimes misunderstand what your grandson is saying "
When her new aids arrived she was not too happy with them. She was told that it was just a matter of her 'adjusting' to them. We went back several times. Eventually one of them would start squealing on her.
We ended up sending them back, by we had quite a fight to get our money back.
If you look in to it, the price mark ups on hearing aids are HUGE. At the retail end we are talking thousands of dollars per pair that go out the door.

I'm supposed to wear 2, but have hearing in only one ear The one is supposed to transmit to the other, but my wife said I am too thickheaded for it to work, so I only wear one. Still a pain. The most important thing is getting a good hearing test to find out what frequencies are good and those not good, then find an aid that fits that need. High frequency loss is difficult for most hearing aids, big $$$$$$$ for those. Mine are Phonak's, better than nothing.

The test at the audiologist and the test at Costco produced graphed that were identical. $1500 Philips and good service at the local Costco. Of course there is an “app” for the devices which is wholly unnecessary. Conversations in noisy restaurants remain more challenging than 30 years ago, but my hearing even in a busy environment is much improved with them. They also afford Bluetooth connectivity for phone and for watching movies on the iPad. I’m sure 50 years of TR6 exhaust drone and all those concerts as a teen contributed.

The various hearing aid manufacturers make several models of their brand. It turns out that Costco only sells the best model from each company. If you do go with Costco, get them to install the app on your phone. It allows you to make adjustments to the hearing aids. You can change the volume level or the program for things like high background noise. My favorite is the TV mode. Using that allows you to sit across the room from a TV and still hear the dialog without turning the TV volume way up. I also really like the connection to my phone. When it rings, I can just tap my ear to answer it and carry on a conversation. It is great for hands free operation.

I went through two sets of Costco hearing aids, but my hearing finally deteriorated to where I had to go with the custom molded earpiece typr from Starkey. With non-profound loss, the Costco units were fine and the people at the hearing center I went to seemed quite professional.

I got mine from the VA, and I think the brand is RESOUND.
I only wear them when going to restaurants and parties. I tell my wife I can hear EVERYTHING (the band, the dishes clanging, the traffic, the dogs, the neighbors music, etc) perfectly except the person sitting or standing 2 feet away. and the hearing aids definitely help that a lot.
My only problem is popping out, and interfering with my glasses.

One thing that I learned when I got mine is how much the little cones that go into you ear can change things. They make different styles for these cones. Some are solid and some have holes or slots. For me, the ones that are solid give me a problem in that I can hear myself talking and the level is too loud. I switched to the type with holes and life is great. My Costco guy went through all of the options with me and it really made a huge difference. When I drop them off for cleaning while shopping at Costco, they always replace the cones and give me a hand full of extras.

Noticed the same thing, significant difference for me between the 2 types of 'domes' for high frequency loss, with the solid ones the worst for me.

Is your hearing loss only on the high end, Ralph?
I believe high frequency rolloff is the most common.
That's what I have but I was told it's not bad enough to require aids yet.
A friend of mine has low frequency loss.
Since voice is generally below 3khz, it was a real problem for him, as there's a rather limited selection.
My paternal grandmother wore a hearing aid for a long as I can remember as a child. Late 1950's.
I'm guessing they weren't very reliable back then because when she passed away and we cleaned out the house, we found a box full of dead ones in a cupboard. At least 25 of them.

Yes. Had some weird stuff going on back in 2023 that had an effect, tracking hearing test coming up next week. My test chart looks like Black Thursday.
